Between a Rock and a Heart Place
When your heart leads you down forbidden trails
and you struggle and your resolve fades and fails
when desire rules among strange flora and fauna
your Sunday school spirit says don.t but you really wanna
Free will comes to rule the night and you fall
like you had no conscience atall
welcome to the club of life.s travail
sometimes we win and oft times we fail
and you struggle and your resolve fades and fails
when desire rules among strange flora and fauna
your Sunday school spirit says don.t but you really wanna
Free will comes to rule the night and you fall
like you had no conscience atall

Charlie's match
Charles lit the match that fired up energized the total red state
and fueled the fire creating the President to make America great
and the red smoke spread across the fruited plain as it is heard
and now with a new GOP Charlie is trying to rein in the Rino herd
so if you want your political windows washed there is one man
who can field the trioups, plan the stategy and come up with a plan
that would be Charlie Meadows patriot of the last four decades
Constitutionalist supreme who walks with the Lord and never fades

Old goat
Old goat
the youngster contemplating the women in his life
and said there must be one perfect to be my wife
in higher ed he looked around for years and never found
one who met his yearning to make his love abound
traveling the world to ports far and some very near
he searched for the perfect match to be his dear
and out of desperation he married one with talents good
who shared his bed and bore his children did what she should
then as his eighth decade came creeping down life.s road
He looked up from his hospital bed and there she stood
the one straight out of his life fantasies in all her glory
so you probably think this is the happy ending of his story
but nay...she was half his age, married to her life dreamboat
sometimes life is strange and your last breath gets your goat

A dead man walks with me
The Body of this Death
“O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”
(Romans 7:24-25)
A dead man walks with me;
He makes my footsteps slow;
He looks with lust upon the world,
And shames me as I go!
He’s shackled to my cross.
My very life ensnares;
For what I would, he will not do,
And what I won’t, he dares.
A dead man walks with me;
His presence, though I try,
I cannot hide; his carnal form
It’s plain to every eye.
He is a sinful man,
And thus he will remain;
And, till the grave shall be his bed,
He even shares my name.
A dead man walks with me.
He does not know the way
To heaven’s bliss, where someday I
Must go, and he must stay!
For soon my Lord will come
To break the ties that bind.
And when the sting of death is gone,
The dead I’ll leave behind.
Thank God, we are no longer under the law of Moses, but the law of grace in Christ Jesus. And though the flesh now serves the law of sin and death, some day it will forever be conquered in death, and we will forever be free with Christ!

Bitterness the unwelcome companion
Bitterness the unwelcome companion
Bitterness my nightly companion as joy flees
no matter how much time on my knees
faith grows day by day even as prayer does naught
to free the helpless feelings hiding in my heart
drink nor baudy party would never sooth my trevail
so now as daylight shrinks my night prayer wells up in my mind
the Lords own prayer that holds all wisdom human and divine
this time I add 'may bitterness flee if it be Thy will'
and not be residing hiding in my simple being still
but if my plea goes unansered undisturbed come the day
His grace suffiect for Paul for me to in this body of clay
and some day when I see His face divine
the purpose of it all will be revealed and mine
and remembered forever no more in that new day
bitterness stays in the grave with joy the new way

The Practice
THE PRACTICE
The Doc was just practicing on the innocent child
his professors had said the side effects were mild
he had years of training when he realy needed decades
before boldly engaging in the for profit medical trades
his white coat and stethoscope gave him false pride
that his guesses (prognostications) would turn the tide
of complicated diseases he did not fully or even elemental understand
and he would bring health to those who came with cash in hand
in his heart he knew that studies show that those not medicated
survive with oft times better results than those who pay his rate
but with usurious college loans to pay and joys of prosperity
he plies his trade and never lets thought invade about his morality
then one day he faces fellow practitioners golden knife
and his wealth flees with his last gasped breath of life
so what is moral of my story you ask...what are you getting at?
God in heaven numbers the days of a man
and your days are His to number and in His hand

Dedicated to Susan Holmes and nulti millions who have been harmed by 'Practice' and untested drugs and inoculations from Big Pharma and Big Med

Submarine races guide
when I was young and in my fine times
the girls all stood in long lines
but now that I am older than sand
thier granddaughters all say he.s not the man
he once was handsome and smooth of persuasion
but now he is over the hill with no more conversation
that can make a ladies romantic heart swoon
he is an old lone wolf howling baefully at the moon
once an accomplished guide for Submarine races
on Lake Texoma shores his talent now in other places
Octogenarians must do their part in life with endless tales
of how they made the country safe for your generation
fighting the worlds bad guys and protecting freedom for all
bringing democracy to people who cannot understand a.tall

a never ending celebration
Love is the very essence of life
that takes the bitter our of strife
Love is the tie that binds us one and all
that makes huge mountains seem so small
Love is the springs of tears of joy
the sun light that dispels a dark ploy
Love is unquenchable with the patience to pause
and wait at heaven's opening door just because
Love is where God has visited, where He hangs His hat
the first step, the final embrace, joy's natural habitat.
Love of you, Love of Him, Love of His creation
makes life and eternity a never ending celebration.

Eternity's slowly opening door
White hair God's crown upon my years
decades do not mute my silent tears
loves desire yearns for soul mates embrace
as life's paths treasured memories retrace.
the beauty of her passionate love, gentle and quite
makes the way clearer with each passing night
while hope grows brighter at each new days start
that He will grant me the desire of my heart
and we will sit side by side on for just awhile
as once more I shall feel the warmth of her smile
and tho my wait be past eternity's opening door
age after age I will have but to love her more.
"Most of the lines in this poem were written at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland in January of 1959, I found it in my mom's estate and added some verses and rewrote others including references to gray hair which was not in existence in 1959 making what was originally a hope for renewed love into an old man's lament. . It is better to have loved and lost than never at all is so true. I have loved and lost a few times but All are dear to me. I wish them well

when patience fails
so you turn and look back on life with dispair
and hate has wiped the tracks of love bare
all the things done with love in mind
have been renamed as the other kind

lonely, Oklahoma
Alone in a crowd since I met you
Hilarity all around but I am still blue
When soul mates are apart for just awhile
Miss the connection miss the uplifting smile
I hope my legacy is not unrequited love
I feel like half of a paired morning dove
But hope springs eternal that the river of life
Will bring new joy next day and end my strife

Repentance
Repentance
Christians sin and repent and are forgiven
Sinners sin and never repent to oblivion.
The choice is yours to make forever is a long time
Humans can last two weeks without having to dine
But living for eternity takes a Creator Divine
Repentance brings joy and salvation intertwined.

I wrote this poem just for you
I wrote this poem just for you
and when you read it you’ll know that’s true
when first we met our hearts entwined
I knew for sure that you were mine
I loved your hair, your eyes your smile
your walk your talk your humor your style
and when you looked into my eyes
those around us would surely realize
that we were soul mates of the first order
for each of us then thare was no other
so now you know the secret not hidden
of just how permanent is my smitten
you are my prime tomater
We will write more verses later

probably created in the early fifties or sixties with some verses added now that I am wise and old and free of fear of literary rejection.

When the Christians came to Oklahoma Jesus was already here
He was with all Adams race everywhere whether far or near
The Amerindians universally called Him the "Great Spirit"
His words of truth are found in all our tribes and very explicit
Love and truth and honor and family are woven thruout the land
faith and hope and charity, respect for the creator's firm hand
Adam means red man and Oklahoma means land of the red man
In Oklahoma we are blessed with direct word links to His plan
We are people of the dirt...tried by storm's wind and dust's sting
We endure the good and the bad and always know who is King
From the Arbuckles hilly ranges to the Panhandles desolation
We are red and white and black patriots...first to defend the nation
The proud Thunderbird our fighting symbol... the red bird, the Phoenix
We rise from our ashes and build anew after bombs blast
When F5 comes our way we dig in and battle it to the last
We are Okies whose grandparents waited out the wrath of dust
and fermented our grapes into fine wine of our common trust
Hospitality is our middle name and love is our girt
We are common folk ...people of the dirt

Rain
When it rains I think of you
when it does not I do to
I see a beautiful sunset and think of you
and a glorious sunrise..yep that to
day after day I think of you
night after night I do to
my friends say I dwell on you
but other than the above I rarely do
.

Dream streams
In the poetry closet of my heart
reside precious unwritten prose
all my creations from my very start
memories no one else knows
shadows that inhabit my deep dreams
joys that make sleep a welcome repast
fantasy where I am poetmaster of life's streams
beloved secret creations that will always last
a perfect dreamscape with perfect love
where the good and honorable always wins
where blessings and grace fall from above
where life is pure and there are no sins
oh happy am I to wake and bring
the delight, the memories of those dreams
my body, my soul, my heart together sing
my sleep, my wake templates of God's same streams

She
I doubt that I shall ever write
a poem that shows the full delight
of ones so fair and so very full of life
but try I must the humble muse in me
put in words what is near heavenly
for only in my dreams and welcome fantasy
am I permitted to barely grasp the hidden reality
of the Creator’s delight with awesome She
made by He for unworthy fools like me
some may win love and some may lose
some men seem to have whom they choose
but all men who feel her touch are winners
able to share a measure of life’s ongoing adventure
with the Creator’s most perfect and joyful creature

Pain
searing soul burning pain
panic, no where to turn
shadows, no place to run
weep but weeping alone and in vain
time creeps with only time to burn
the truth now sure all hope is done
with nothing but infinite sorrow to gain
there is no lesson to learn
no life to live for joy is gone, done
again and again come the floodgates of pain
but then one loving act chases the pain
now someplace to joyfully turn
and somewhere gladly to run
someone who cares brings reality again
a willing hand soothed the burn
understanding eyes gently signal the pain is done
the butterfly can fly again
and ride the wind and swoop and glide and tack and turn
mended by loving care of an earth angel the hurt undone

Pain's song of songs
Some in past lyrics claimed that pain
makes poets great climb their tears to fame
if that be so oh muse then now I realize
my destiny to claim the highest prize
tho medicals say the heart is extra strong
they cannot hear its sad unrelenting song
that will not be muted in the soul until
her presence brings back the thrill
as with our other loves we stroll thru heaven’s door
slowly opening to eternal bliss for us all ever more

Please
if please the reader I have done
my pain is lessened some but not quite undone
til in the pine box with fixed waxy unreal smile
I go to waiting plot in finery of costly style
my widow crying for me and the small fortune used
planting for the resurrection a man a humble muse

Where times stops and joy overflows
City of Sedona official website: "Arts and Culture Events"
Take a deep breath and think of days gone by how they seen so close and yet your mind knows that years have flowed like water down the channels of your mind. The time has come to step out of the humdrum and breath the fresh air of a new adventure. Sedona is the somewhere that transcends time and space and makes the heart glad to be alive in God's creation.

I wrote this a couple years ago about a dear (who must remain anonymous)friend's emasculating rejection as a lover , husband and partner. I went thru this time period with him as his family was torn apart...they bear only the scars now and lead happy lives... I am sure it was obvious to him that his fomer wife had a cold uncaring heart towared him...but he kept hoping. Hurtful truth does rescue folks from the Evil one's lust clutch on their life. He is happily remarried now and his kids are in touch every day or two.

A little lady named Jules in a softball cap
Little girl, in a softball cap Stands in the field with her ball and bat Says I am the greatest player of them all Puts her bat on her shoulder and she tosses up her ball
And the ball goes up and the ball comes down Swings her bat all the way around The world's so still you can hear the sound The softball falls to the ground
Now the little girl doesn't say a word Picks up her ball, she is undeterred Says I am the greatest there has ever been And she grits her teeth and she tries it again
And the ball goes up and the ball comes down Swings her bat all the way around The world's so still you can hear the sound The softball falls to the ground
She makes no excuses, She shows no fears See just closes her eyes and listens to the cheers
Little girl, adjusts her cap Picks up her ball, stares at her bat Says I am the greatest the game is on the line And she gives her all one last time
And the ball goes up like the moon so bright Swings her bat with all her might And the world's so still as still can be And the softball falls, and that's strike three
Now it's supper time and her mother calls Little girl starts home with her bat and ball Says I am the greatest that is a fact But even I didn't know I could pitch like that
She says I am the greatest that is understood but even I didn't know I could pitch that good.

A poem about my father...composed the day he died in 1955
I would reall like to get to know you better today
But I am so very busy and don’t have time to stay
I would really like to get to know you better today
But your home is so very very many blocks away
I would really like to get to know you better today
I would really like to get to know you better today
But I have to drive to the metro to see a neat play
I would really like to get to know you better today
But you died in your sleep before the break of day.

I was 18, a senior in HS at Bromide, Oklahoma and his death devestated me. This poem comes from thoughts and verse that day composed over the fifty years since and finally written down in 2004. I loved and admired my father who was a champion competitive runner and cowboy. I updated the poem for modern consumption. He has about a hundred offspring in Oklahoma counting in laws and woods colts.

Clinging to my guns and religion Amen ...we be folks of faith and valor
Here I am in Oklahoma
where I ain't never gonna
give up my long gun and dry powder
and praising the Lord louder and louder
I know B. Hussien makes fun of you n' me
but he is just another silly commie wannabe
and when the votes are counted this fall
our small town votes will be his downfall

Poem about my youthful dance with the death angel...composed on October 23, 2006
Tracks of a friend in the snow
I have lain on the path of bone chilling fear ... watched as the death angel hovered near ... Midnight I rode the trail where black lion stalked ... my steed snorting his course stayed.. balked ... I lost my seat and the moon swirled around ... my head was the first to kiss frozen ground ... My body bounced down the Arbuckles crag ... the earth drank my blood and there I laid ... and dreamed the dream of death’s opening door ... of life unlived and path’s untracked with joy untasted ... my future my claim on living gone as I lay wasted ... but awareness came as light chased away the night ... My companion grazed close by had kept the cat away ... snow tracks around my death bed testified to his stay ... my shirt red soaked with life’s precious fluid staining the ground ... I drug my pain racked body to the saddle and started down ... past the still waiting mountain lion eyes peering from thick weeds ... the smell of my blood kept him waiting to quench his savage needs ... I looked back as he smelled my blood spilled in the snow where I lay ... then followed us for awhile before turning to find unguarded prey ... Danpatch went to equine heaven during the next season’s winter strife ... But in my dreams I still count the tracks of my friend who saved my life.
. . jdm10/23/2006 based on a true occurrence with some literary license applied...My dad was a cowboy and Danpatch had been his favorite horse until he was retired to be my horse. At the time of the poem Danpatch was over twenty years old and I was 12. Gosh I miss him!

the TIME is NOW
The time is now!
How can you set there with that smug look on your face
eternity comes fast and you don't know your place
Fate is standing in the dark shadows playing to your pride
and here you are unconcerned like time was on your side.
The day will come when your ladder of life has no more rungs
and all your choices will expire with the breath in your lungs.
The nearest Bible can help you make your choice of eternal habitation
for you can find Christ Jesus in every book from Genesis to Revelation.

Elvis...if we never meet again this side of Heaven
click link to listen...
If we never meet again this side of Heaven...Elvis
Soon we'll come to the end of life's journey
And perhaps never meet anymore
Till we gather in heaven's bright city
Far away on that beautiful shore
If we never meet again this side of heaven
As we struggle through this world and its strife
There's another meeting place somewhere in heaven
By the side of the river of life
Where the charming roses bloom forever
And where separations come no more
If we never meet again this side of heaven
I will meet you on that beautiful shore
